The memorial service for Berni
The memorial service for Berni was perfect for her.
Sad but good.
The sun came out, birds were singing, and the company was sound. Tears were shed at the service with the poignant music and words, and laughter and stories were shared at the pub afterwards, where we were chatting re all things 'Berni'.
She was (and is!) MUCH loved. Woman, wife, mum and friend extraordinaire ~
Much love to the Shand family!

Kat and Berni
Kitkat (keida84) came to London after spending precious time with Berni and Carl in Upwell. Kat is a friend for life, and a second big sister to me. Berni and Carl are also wonderful souls, we are surrounded by people who have touched my husband and I in a huge way, who have made a big impact on our lives. For that we will always be grateful.
We had a fantastic time, meeting up at the Royal Albert Hall (where Berni and Carl were going to see Madame Butterfly), and then wandered off to find a restaurant.

In tribute ~ Berni
Woman, wife, mum and friend extraordinaire ~ |
Bernishand was one of the first people I chatted with on VT, in January 2005, late one evening... the topic of conversation was shoes I believe! But then that wouldn’t surprise anyone who knew this amazing lady. A successful mum, devoted wife, strong woman and loyal friend, with a wicked sense of humour and a fabulous laugh! This is Berni Shand, the woman I have come to know and love.
Berni, you are sorely missed and dearly loved. I will try and not dwell on the friend I have lost, but rejoice in the friend I gained in you. Thank you for the privilege of your friendship these past two years. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with your family, Carl, Colin, Carla and Christian, and especially your Carl, that beloved husband you have been blessed with all these years. You were made for eachother.
Hambagahle (good bye) for now my friend, till we meet again xxx
